Embedded processing is at the heart of most of the products we develop. From bare-metal to Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)s, embedded wired and wireless communication we have the ability to create firmware that will make your product stand out. 

To compliment your product we design software it will interact with, from tablet apps, or PC software, to cloud based solutions.

Sensor Electronics

At I.C.E. Electronics we have specialist knowledge of sensor signals and understand the importance of sensors. We are used to interfacing with the real world in its rawest electrical form and providing compensation to get the most out of your sensor.


Any system is only as good as its input. Without accurate, reliable, repeatable measurements, higher level functionality cannot be built and relied upon.

In the real world sensors are affected by external parameters and so the desired sensing parameter often needs to be compensated via secondary measurement parameters, for example temperature.

At I.C.E. Electronics we have specialist knowledge of sensor signals and understand the importance of sensors. We are used to interfacing with the real world in its rawest electrical form and providing compensation to get the most out of your sensor.

Many of these products operate at the coalface of measurement and are embedded into the environment being measured. This means we are used to dealing with the most demanding requirements for our electronics, from high temperature to high bandwidth.

For sensor applications our electronics tend to be heavily embedded, as such we are used to dealing with small spatial requirements, enabling easy integration into your sensor housings.

We offer a portfolio of standard interfaces for:
  • Wheatstone bridges, including load cell and pressure
  • Temperature devices, including NTC, PT1000 and thermocouples
  • Magno-resistive (MR), including angle of rotation and displacement
  • Tooth detection, including eddy current, MR and optical
  • Piezeo electrics (gauges and ultrasonics for example)
  • Anything that outputs a voltage, current or digital value
To compliment your measurement we can then add some add some higher-level functionality, including:
  • Advanced signal conditioning, analogue signal conditioning, process compensation and linearization, temperature compensation and signal filtering
  • A range of output formats, analogue voltage (e.g. 0.5-4.5V, 0-5V, 0-10V), analogue current (e.g. 4-20mA) or a digital communication median (e.g. CAN, RS-485, USB)
  • Embedded wireless communications (ZigBee, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, proprietary radio)

Aquisition and Communication

We have a portfolio of embedded acquisition solutions to suit your application from low-cost to high performance. We are used to interfacing with industries many communication mediums.

As processing power improves there is an increasing requirement to embed more intelligence and computing power into embedded platforms, including sensors themselves. This typically involves moving the point of transition into the digital domain into the embedded system.

COMMUNICATIONS:

With data in the digital domain the communication interface then becomes an important part of the design.

We have experience with a range of communication interfaces both wired and wireless.

We routinely interface sensors with standard industrial communications and offer a range of CAN solutions, including CANOpen, J1939, Vector tools and Peak Systems.

We offer a wide range of experience with wireless which includes standard radio interfaces (Wi-Fi, BlueTooth, ZigBee, GPS and GSM) and more specialist proprietary radios for battery-less remote monitoring or high fidelity analogue data transfer.

Data and Control

At I.C.E. Electronics we have a have a deep understanding of sensor data. We are used to dealing with vast amounts of data generated by sensors, how to make that into a meaningful signal and get it from A to B.

With the addition of process knowledge from the customer we are able to create intelligent software that can analyse sensor data and present it in a format suitable for your application.

To compliment this capability we can then take that live data stream and provide real-time process control.
